Philanthrophy
Our mission statement asserts, "Alpha Chi Omega is a national women's organization that enriches the lives of members through lifetime opportunities for friendship, leadership, learning and service."
Alpha Chi Omega's current national philanthropy is the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation, which supports Victims of Domestic Violence. Alpha Chi Omega voted to change primary philanthropies from the Easter Seals during the 1980s after the National Board became aware of the prevalence of domestic violence and the lack of emotional and financial support. Alpha Chi Omega was the first American women's fraternity to tackle the problems of domestic violence, not only by assisting victims, but by embracing and educating its members against it.
In our Chapter
Community service is an integral part of Alpha Chi Omega at Brown University's Zeta Theta chapter. Sisterhood goes beyond the bonds we form at school and into the Rhode Island and global community as we take a stand and fight against domestic violence. We fund-raise for and are directly involved with the Rhode Island Women's Shelter. We support and donate to Women for Womem International as we advocate for women's rights around the world.
In the past, we have and will continue to participate in the following service projects: Alpha Chi Omega Toiletries Drive, Halloween On Wriston, and Love Shouldn't Hurt. AXO rallies the Brown Community and organizes Love Shouldn't Hurt. It is a show made up of a collaboration of Brown talent to stand strong against domestic violence that will be held on Friday, April 16, 2010 in Solomon 101.
Join us in giving back to our community!
